Bacon and Chocolate

A salted, sated stupor. That’s the best way I can describe what happened to me and my companions last night at Nutty Steph’s Bacon Thursday.

On Thursday nights from 6 ’til midnight, Jaquelyn Rieke — aka Steph — transforms her chocolate shop into an ersatz cabaret, proffering wine and beer along with bacon from area farms. Order a “flight” of bacon and engage in some serious taste-testing of everyone’s favorite pork product; order dipping sauces like chocolate, caramel, honey and maple for the aforementioned stupor.

Yep, there’s live music. Jaquelyn might even provide some of it, belting forth a bawdy love song with her banjo-playing  boyfriend-accompanist. All her usual chocolate delicacies are for sale too…chocolate balances bacon, dontcha know.

Call 229-2090 for details on Bacon Night hours during the holidays. Or stop by (Tues-Sat, 10-6) to pick up some stocking stuffers for the chocoholics on your list, and ask her yourself.
